Traveling from I-95 in Kingsland:
Take Hwy 40 West to Folkston. From there, you may choose to stop at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and then travel either north along US 1 to Waycross and the Okefenenokee Swamp Park , or south on Hwy 23 to St. George where you will take Hwy 94 north to Fargo and Stephen C. Foster State Park .
Traveling From I-75 Valdosta :
Take Hwy 84 East to Homerville. From there, you may choose to travel south along 441 to Fargo and Stephen C. Foster, or continue east to Waycross and the Okefenokee Swamp Park.
Traveling from Waycross :
There are several options from here. You may travel West to Homerville and Valdosta , or take Hwy 441 South from Homerville to Fargo and Stephen C. Foster State Park . You can journey south on US 1 to see the Okefenokee Swamp Park and continue on to Folkston, where you can visit the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.
Traveling From Folkston:
US 1 North will lead you to Waycross , where you can get on Hwy 84 West to visit Homerville and Valdosta . Hwy 23 South will link you to Hwy 94, which takes you to Fargo, or you may travel East on Hwy 40 to see Kingsland.
Traveling From Fargo :
Hwy 94 will lead to St. George, where you will change over to Hwy 23 North to visit Folkston. Hwy 441 will lead to Hwy 84 in Homerville, where you can choose to turn left for Valdosta or right for Waycross.
Traveling From Homerville:
Hwy 84 will lead you to either Waycross (east) to join with US 1 or to Valdosta (west) and I-75. Hwy 441 will take you to Fargo and all points south along Highways 94, 23, and 40.
No matter which way you go, you are bound to have a wonderful visit with one of the three entrances to the Okefenokee Swamp and the cities that surround them. So, next time you are passing through Southeast Georgia , please remember that the back roads were made for you to explore!
